Interrail 2010 - France - Nice
We had such a good time in Nice! The youth hostel we picked out was awsame and so was a lot of the people we met there.
Villa Saint Exupery - Best youth hostel ever!
We stayed at a lot of different youth hostels during our trip and this was by far the best one. Not that the standard is all that high (it's okay+). The staff there was really friendly and helpful. Just ask them to help you plan or even arrange things to do!
The hostel has a huge common room (a "chappel" with a huge stained glass window) with a bar and kitchen (you can order pizza). When the bar closes you can still buy beer from the vending machine for 1 EUR.
The only tiny disadvantage is that it's a bit outside the city and up on a hill. The tram connections are good though.

Daytrip to Eze and Monaco
We went for a daytrip to Eze and Monaco together with a girl from Austraila and a stone mason from England we met at the hostel. 30 minutes with bus from Nice you'll find
Eze
. It's a really beautiful medival village on the very top of a mountain. You have to pay 5 EUR to see the view, but I think it was worth it. From there we went for a 45 minute hike down to the sea, went for a swim before we took the bus to Monaco.
Note that the buses back to Nice stops running fairly early. We missed our bus by two hours (f... public holidy!) and had to take the train back.
Note! Make sure to jump on the train going in the right direction. We messed up, jumped on the train going in the wrong direction and ended up in Italy instead of Nice!
